Los Angeles, CA

Opening Odds: Los Angeles -3/48.5
The Los Angeles Rams represented the NFC in last year’s Super Bowl, but things haven’t been so easy this season and the schedule ramps up starting Monday night against the surging Baltimore Ravens. Los Angeles isn’t likely to win the NFC again and may not even make the playoffs, but the talent is certainly there to go on a run. The Rams, who are 3-point home dogs Monday, still have to play Seattle, Dallas, and NFC West-leading San Francisco, but carry some momentum into this game after a 17-7 win over the Chicago Bears last Sunday night. Baltimore looks like the biggest threat to the Patriots in the AFC and hold a potential head-to-head tiebreaker for home-field advantage in a playoff game thanks to a 37-20 dominant win over New England in Week 9 – the Pats’ first loss of the year. This will be Baltimore’s second trip out West of 2019 and they upset the Seahawks in Seattle 30-16 in Week 7. The Ravens are coming off a dominating 41-7 win over the Houston Texans last Sunday for their sixth victory in a row and lead the AFC North by three full games. This will be the first time ever that the Ravens will face the Rams in Los Angeles. The franchises haven’t met since 2015 when the Rams were still in St. Louis. Baltimore won that game 16-13 at home as Justin Tucker made a 47-yard field goal as time expired. The home team is 3-1-1 against the spread in the past five meetings.
With all the talk about the Ravens’ offense, the defense goes unnoticed. Baltimore is the lone NFL team that has yet to allow a point on an opponent’s first drive this season and are allowing just 16.0 points per game while forcing 12 turnovers during their current winning streak. Cornerback Marcus Peters has returned two interceptions for touchdowns in four games with Baltimore since Los Angeles parted ways with him on Oct. 15. No team is clicking more on offense than Baltimore and no quarterback has been better of late than Lamar Jackson, who could win his first NFL MVP Award. Jackson threw four touchdown passes and rushed for 86 yards on nine carries last week against Houston. Baltimore is destroying people on the ground, ranking first in the league with 203.1 yards per game. The Ravens’ 2,038 rushing yards are the fifth-most through a team’s first 10 games of a season since 1970 and Jackson has at least 60 rushing yards in seven consecutive games. Jackson’s 788 rushing yards are the most by a quarterback through 10 games in the Super Bowl era. The Ravens will host San Francisco next Sunday.
This will be second straight prime-time home game for the Rams after keeping their playoff hopes alive against the Bears last week, although the offence struggled for a second straight game. L.A. had just 283 yards of total offense and were 3-for-10 on third down and turned it over twice. Goff completed only 11 passes on 18 attempts, but Todd Gurley had 133 all-purpose yards on 28 touches, both season highs. Rams receiver Robert Woods was inactive for personal reasons and fellow wideout Brandin Cooks was out again with a concussion. Both are listed as probable for Monday. The defense has been keeping the team in games, ranking 10th overall (324.6) and fifth against the run (89.1). L.A. has allowed 20 points or less in five straight contests.
Bobby Babowski and Reggie Garrett are going against me on this one. I just don’t trust the Rams’ offense right now and Baltimore’s defense is pretty solid. L.A. is very good at stopping the run, but the Ravens aren’t a typical running team, and the Rams will have their hands full chasing down Jackson. I’ll lay the points here.
