Trainer Bob Baffert indicated on Monday that Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will most likely compete in the August 29th Travers Stakes from Saratoga Race Course in New York. Pharoah will be breezed on Sunday at Del Mar before Baffert makes his final decision to ship him over to the East Coast for the Grade I Travers Stakes.
Baffert continues to be amazed at how quickly American Pharoah bounces back from his races. “He still looks like a picture of health. He’s pretty damn spectacular. I’ve never seen a horse that’s been on a plane so many times and still holds his form. I brought him out the other day and I couldn’t believe it. The hair is supposed to start getting a dull look or the horse gets a look that says, ‘Hey, I’m getting tired.’ I don’t know what planet this horse is from. If they’re going to clone a horse, it should be this one.
