The Tennessee Titans, despite winning five games in a row and leading the AFC North, are huge underdogs this Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Tennessee dropped their first two games of the season, but the defense has locked things down during the five-game winning streak. The unit has allowed 22 points or less in all five games and 20 points total over the last two. The Titans are coming off a 17-10 win at the Houston Texans behind a huge game from Derick Henry and lead the division by two games over the Indianapolis Colts. Yet, they are a 12.5-point underdog to the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. The reason for that could be the availability of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who missed last week’s game due to an ankle injury and rookie Malik Willis did not really impress.

So, the rested Kansas City defense will be licking their chops if Willis is back under center. The Chiefs last played on Oct. 23, an impressive 44-23 at the San Francisco 49ers. However, K.C. has had issues with the Titans over the last few years. Counting the postseason, Tennessee has won five of the past six meetings, including a 27-3 beatdown last season in Nashville. But the Chiefs were victorious in the most important contest when they beat the Titans 35-24 in the 2019 AFC Championship Game. In last year’s game, Tannehill threw for 270 yards and a score and rushed for a touchdown, while Derrick Henry rushed for 86 yards and threw a TD pass. Mahomes was 20-for-35 for 206 yards and a pick with a lost fumble and eventually left with a head injury. Tennessee is 5-1 against the spread in the past six meetings.

The Titans won their fifth in a row Sunday despite playing without Tannehill. Willis completed just 6-for-10 for 55 yards and an interception. Tannehill was listed as questionable on the Friday injury report but coach Mike Vrabel labeled him a game-time decision. Tannehill missed Thursday’s practice and was limited on Friday. Henry was the work horse last week with 219 yards and two scores on 32 carries. The former Heisman winner has now rushed for 200 or more yards in six career games, tying him with OJ Simpson and Adrian Peterson for the most ever. Henry has topped 100 rushing yards in four straight games and ranks third in the NFL with 755 to go along with seven touchdowns.

The Chiefs are sitting at 5-2 and their two losses were by a combined seven points to Indianapolis and Buffalo. Kansas City played their best game of the season in Week 7, beating the 49ers 44-23 despite trailing 10-0 early. Patrick Mahomes threw for 423 yards and three scores, while receiver Mecole Hardman caught a TD pass and ran for two. Mahomes has an NFL-best 20 touchdown passes to go with 2,159 yards and five interceptions. The Chiefs lead the NFL in scoring with 31.9 points per game and rank second in total offense (403.3 yards per game). Kansas City will be without three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Frank Clark, who was suspended two games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy due to two offseason arrests on gun charges. Tight end Jody Fortson (quadriceps, illness) will also miss Sunday’s game.

The Chiefs are the better team, but this is a lot of points to give a team that has been playing great defense and have one of the best rushers in Henry. Also, double-digit dogs have been covering this year and we even had one on Thursday night with the Texans. Tennessee’s defense will not allow this game to get out of hand.
