NFC East Preview, Betting Odds and Free Picks [2021]

After last year, the NFC East can only get better. By far the worst division in football in 2020 had every team in the hunt in the final few weeks of the season. The Washington Football Team came out on top in the end with a 7-9 record, edging out the 6-10 Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. All teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, should be improved in 2021.

Dallas had a very tough year after quarterback Dak Prescott was lost early in the season to injury. With a healthy Prescott, the Cowboys will come into this season as the favorites to win the East at +120, followed by the Football Team at +230. The Giants (+400) and Eagles (+500) bring up the rear on the odds board, but all are capable of winning the division.

The Eagles made two big changes in the offseason. Shipping quarterback Carson Wentz to Indy and firing head coach Doug Pederson just two years removed from a Super Bowl championship. Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts will have their work cutout for them, but the talent is there. The offensive line has to get better.

The Giants offense should be more effective this season with a healthy Saquon Barkley and the acquisition of wide receiver Kenny Golladay. The defense is the strong part of this team and should be at least a top 10 unit.

Washington might have the best all-around roster and coach in Ron Rivera. The defense is ferocious, but the offense was stagnant in 2020. The QB problem has been temporarily solved with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick coming on board. If he has any magic left at all, the offense could open up for a very good rushing attack.

Odds to Win NFC East:
Dallas Cowboys +120
Washington +230
New York Giants +400
Philadelphia Eagles +500

Season Win Totals:
Dallas Cowboys 9.5 o120
Washington 8.5 o125
New York Giants 7.5 u150
Philadelphia Eagles 6.5 o130

Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: The G-Men are going to surprise some teams this year. People talk about Washington’s defense, but this New York unit is not far behind. I still trust Daniel Jones to run the offense and he will have better weapons this year. The Giants also had the best division record in 2020 (4-2). I think New York is a 9-8 team and we only have to get to eight wins to cash this ticket.
Giants OVER 7.5 +120

Jay’s Pick to Win Division: Fitzpatrick might not be great, but he can still make big plays and is not afraid to throw downfield. That’s what this Washington team was lacking last year. The defense will carry them, but at least they don’t have to do everything. I can’t put my money on Dallas because Prescott is too injury-prone and head coach Mike McCarthy makes some bone-headed decisions during games.
Washington +230
