American League Central Preview, Betting Odds and Free Picks [2022]

According to oddsmakers, the American League Central is already over. The Chicago White Sox are overwhelming favorites heading into 2022 and there’s good reason. The starting rotation is one of the best in the American League. Luis Robert, Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez, Yasmani Grandal and Tim Anderson form a very dangerous lineup.

The battle for 2nd place will be interesting. The remaining four teams all have a shot, but the frontrunner in my opinion are the Minnesota Twins. Landing Carlos Correa not only improves the lineup, but the defense as well. Pitching could hold this team back, however.

The Cleveland Guardians (that will take some getting used to) have the pitching to stay in the wild card race, but the lineup outside of Jose Ramirez and Franmil Reyes, is weak.

The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals are very young and have talent on the way. The Tigers farm system is one of the best and could make some noise this season, but certainly in 2023.

Season Win Totals:
Chicago White Sox 91.5
Detroit Tigers 78.5
Minnesota Twins 79.5
Cleveland Guardians 76.5
Kansas City Royals 75.5

Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: The Tigers won 77 games last year and they are inching close to getting over the .500 mark. The rotation isn’t bad and the lineup has improved with the addition of Javier Baez. I can see Detroit getting to 81 wins.
Tigers OVER 78.5

Jay’s Pick to Win Division: I just can’t see anyone competing with this White Sox team. They not only will win the division, but compete for the AL pennant.
White Sox -200
