Is Kansas City’s reign atop the AFC West coming to an end? They are still loaded and once again favored to win this division, but the Chargers and Broncos are getting better each year and are poised to make a run at the Chiefs. It should be a fun season in the AFC West that is loaded with great quarterbacks and legendary coaches. Buckle up!
AFC West Standings [2024]
| AFC | WEST | W | L | T |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chiefs | 15 | 2 | 0 | |
| Chargers | 11 | 6 | 0 | |
| Broncos | 10 | 7 | 0 | |
| Raiders | 4 | 13 | 0 |
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-135)
The Chiefs are still the favorite in this division and are seeking their ninth consecutive division title. K.C. addressed a weakness on the offensive line and drafted Josh Simmons with the 32nd pick. The Chiefs have been pretty good in recent years drafting at the bottom of each round. They were 12-0 in one-score games last season and that is hard to duplicate. I still think they’re a little thin at wide receiver. The Week 2 meeting with the Eagles should be fun.
Odds to Win AFC West (as of 8/3/25):
Kansas City Chiefs -135
Los Angeles Chargers +300
Denver Broncos +330
Las Vegas Raiders +1900
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (+300)
Jim Harbaugh took this Chargers team from a losing record to the playoffs in his first season. They went out and grabbed running back Najee Harris and guard Mekhi Becton, while drafting another running back and wide receiver with their first two picks. The offense is solid enough, but should be even better. The defense set a franchise record last season for fewest points per game allowed. This team is ready to make a jump.

DENVER BRONCOS (+330)
Like the Chargers, the Broncos are ready to make the next step. Denver made the playoffs last season with rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Can he duplicate or even improve in his second season? That will be the key to Denver’s success going forward. The Broncos loaded up on defense in free agency and in the Draft and will give L.A. and Kansas City all they can handle. Right now, they are the trendy pick to win this division.
Season Win Totals (as of 8/3/25):
Kansas City Chiefs 11.5 u120
Los Angeles Chargers 9.5 o125
Denver Broncos 9.5 o115
Las Vegas Raiders 6.5 o190
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (+1900)
Things are starting to look up in Las Vegas with the addition of a new GM and 74-year old coach Pete Carroll. It’s been a rough run for the Raiders, but the offense should be improved with Geno Smith at QB and rookie sensation Ashton Jeanty. The defense should also be better now that the key contributors are healthy. Still, it will be tough to climb out of the basement this season.
Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: I can see a big year from Denver as long as Nix doesn’t regress. The defense should be fantastic and Denver always has a solid home field advantage. It’s a very favorable schedule and I can easily see 10 wins here.
Broncos OVER 9.5 -115
Jay’s Pick to Win Division: I’m tired of this Chiefs team winning year after year, but until they lose, I have to keep taking them. It won’t be easy, but this team is still stacked and they have Mahomes and Reid running the show. Most of their tough non-division games are at home with the exception of Buffalo. I’ll pick them to win at least one more time.
Chiefs -135
