The Baltimore Orioles will look to make it two in a row when they host the first place New York Yankees on Tuesday night in the middle-game of their three-game set. The Orioles snapped a seven-game losing skid in Monday’s opener – their longest losing streak in six years – with a 3-2 victory. Dylan Bundy threw seven strong innings and Jonathan Schoop drove in a pair of runs in Monday’s triumph. The Orioles’ 16th home victory moved them to within 3.5 games of the front-running Yankees in the competitive AL East, but the offense is still stagnant. Baltimore has scored more than three runs just twice in the last eight games. Orioles CF Adam Jones (hip, ankle) was a late scratch from the lineup on Monday and has sat out the last three games. The Yankees may still be in first place, but have lost four of their last five road games. Yankees RF Aaron Judge continues to impress as he blasted his major league-leading 17th home run in Monday’s opener. Aaron Hicks delivered an RBI single and has a hit in five of his last six games. Reliever Chasen Shreve pitched two scoreless innings for the Yankees on Monday and has allowed just one run in 11 appearances.
Pitchers: Yankees – Luis Severino (3-2, 3.11 ERA) | Orioles – Chris Tillman (1-1, 4.43)
Luis Severino is coming off his best start of the season on Wednesday against Kansas City, earning the win to break a four-start winless streak, earning the victory. He allowed just four hits and one walk over eight scoreless innings while striking out seven against the Royals. Severino has given up one or no runs in four of his last six starts and owns a total of 61 strikeouts in 55 innings. Severino made his season debut at Baltimore on April 7th, but did not factor in the decision while allowing four runs and six hits in five innings.
Chris Tillman will be making his fifth start of the season after starting the 2017 campaign on the disabled list. He suffered his first loss on Wednesday, allowing four runs and nine hits in five innings to Minnesota. The former All-Star has a quality start in one of his four outings and has yet to record an out past the sixth inning. Tillman is 8-6 with a 4.63 ERA in 19 career starts against New York.

Despite Baltimore’s victory on Monday, they’re still struggling offensively and Severino is not a guy they want to see right now. He’s New York’s most consistent starter and should be able to keep the O’s bats cool. Look for New York to tee-off on Tillman like they typically do.
