The Toledo Rockets perfect season came to a crashing halt last week at home to Northern Illinois. Now, they must regroup, because they still have shot at a very successful season and a MAC Championship. The road will not be easy as their final three games are against teams that are a combined 14-1 in MAC play starting with Central Michigan tonight. The Rockets had their 10-game winning streak snapped despite getting big rushing performances from running backs Kareem Hunt (25 carries, 140 yards, two touchdowns) and Terry Swanson (16 carries, 133 yards). Toledo had a chance to win they game when they got the ball back with 1:59 left, but QB Phillip Ely’s interception sealed the deal. Ely came into the game on fire, but was held to 136 yards passing and no touchdowns, while throwing two picks. The strong rushing effort by Toledo bumped them all the way up to 17th in FBS averaging 222.9 yards a game. They’ll be tested tonight against a strong rush defense from the Chippewas.

Central Michigan has a lot easier road after tonight, but must have Western Michigan lose twice more in order to play in the MAC Championship Game. Their 41-39 loss to the Broncos last month will come back to haunt their season. They still need just one win to become bowl eligible. They have a very solid defense that ranks 20th in the nation in total yards allowed and held Oklahoma State to just 24 points in a week 1 loss. Quarterback Cooper Rush has the Chippewas ranked 21st in FBS in passing offense, but has thrown 15 interceptions to go along with his 15 TDs. The Chippewas have absolutely no running game, ranking 125th in FBS with just 95.3 yard a game. Central Michigan has been beating Vegas all season. They are 8-1 against the spread and 4-0 at home. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Western Michigan can lose two more games and that the Chippewas could sneak into the MAC Championship Game, but they need to win tonight.
Like we mentioned above, the Chipps are perfect at home against the spread and Toledo is coming off an emotional loss. I’ll take Central Michigan tonight in what should be a very good game.
Pick: Central Michigan +4
