Steelers vs Dolphins Preview and Free Pick – October 24th, 2010 ]]> include($base_url . “/includes/header.htm”); ?>
Recent Meetings
The Pittsburgh Steelers survived the first four weeks of the season without Ben Roethlisberger and went 3-1 with Dennis Dixon and Charlie Batch. Roethlisberger came back last week and didn’t look rusty guiding the Steelers to a 28-10 win over Cleveland. Big Ben was 16-27, 257 yards, 3 touchdowns and only 1 interception. He’ll be tested a little bit more this week against the Miami Dolphins, but with one game under his belt, I expect Roethlisberger and the Steelers to move the ball effectively. The question is, will the Miami offense move the ball through the Steelers defense which ranks number 1 in the NFL allowing only 12 points a game. They also rank first against the run allowing 63.6 yards a game. That spells trouble for the Dolphins two running backs, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. For some reason the Dolphins do not play well at home and it goes back a few years. In their last 57 home games, Miami is only 15-41-1 against the spread. They are 0-2 straight up and ATS this year so far. Pittsburgh has also been a good road team probably due to the fact they have a great fan following at every game. The Steelers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. Another interesting trend is what happens in Week 7 of the NFL season. The Steelers are 6-2 ATS the last 8 years in Week 7, while the Dolphins have failed to cover the last 5 years in Week 7. This game comes down to whether or not QB Chad Henne can pass the ball effectively enough to win this game. I don’t think he can and I believe the Steelers will win this easily.
