The homer-happy Tampa Bay Rays take their act to Arlington on Monday night to open a three-game series with the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park. Tampa Bay is off to a 2-1 start on their nine-game road trip after taking the weekend series with the Minnesota Twins. The Rays pushed their homer total to an American League-high 74 with a pair on Sunday and have gone deep 23 times in their last 12 games. Erasmo Ramirez will start for the Rays despite throwing 12 pitches to record the save in Sunday’s 8-6, 15-inning victory at Minnesota. Evan Longoria and Logan Morrison smacked back-to-back homers in the 15th as Tampa Bay improved to 8-3 on the road this month. Corey Dickerson went 4-for-8 (four singles) on Sunday to raise his average to .337 and has hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games for the Rays. Tampa is five games back of the first place Yankees in the AL East, but just a half-game out of the second Wild Card spot. The Rangers return home from a poor road trip, but posted a nice 3-1 at Toronto on Sunday thanks to strong pitching and Joey Gallo’s 15th homer of the season. Texas ended their road trip at 3-6 and have won just two of their last eight since a 10-game winning streak. Adrian Beltre (calf) went 7-for-17 in three rehab games and will be re-evaluated Monday before potentially being activated to make his season debut for Texas.

Pitchers: Rays – Erasmo Ramirez (3-0, 2.92 ERA) | Rangers – Martin Perez (2-5, 3.77)

Ramirez gave up two runs in each of his two starts since rejoining the rotation, allowing 10 hits with seven strikeouts over 11.1 innings. Ramirez has walked a total of six batters and struck out 27 in 37 innings while posting a 0.86 WHIP. Shin-Soo Choo is 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk versus Ramirez, who is 0-1 with a 5.72 ERA in 11 career appearances (four starts) against Texas.

Martin Perez was terrible in April, going 1-4 with a 4.26 ERA, but has turned things around in May. In four starts this month, Perez has a 1-1 record and 3.16 ERA. He allowed three runs and six hits over 6.1 innings in a no-decision at Boston on Wednesday. Perez has surrendered just four home runs in 57+ innings this season and just one in May. Longoria is 6-for-12 with three doubles and a homer against Perez, who is 0-2 with a 5.33 ERA versus the Rays.

Texas has been great at home this season and are a perfect 5-0 in the game following a 7+ day road trip. I don’t like the fact that Tampa is using Ramirez after finishing the game on Sunday. Look for the Rangers bats to click tonight especially if Beltre is back in the lineup.

Pick: Rangers -118
