NFC West Preview, Betting Odds and Predictions [2025]

Originally posted on 9/2/25

The NFC West could be as wide-open as any division in the NFL this year. The 49ers were supposed to roll last season, but injuries and inconsistent play landed them at the bottom. San Fran is the favorite coming into 2025, but only slightly over the Rams, while the improving Cardinals and Seahawks have a legitimate shot at winning the West.

NFC West Standings [2024]

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (+160)

The 49ers went a disappointing 6-11 last season and blew up the roster, letting go several key players, including Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Javon Hargrave, Jordan Mason and Maliek Collins. They still have Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. The key will be to keep them healthy. The good news is that the schedule is very manageable outside the division.

Odds to Win NFC West (as of 9/2/25):
San Francisco 49ers +160
LA Rams +175
Arizona Cardinals +450
Seattle Seahawks +475

LOS ANGELES RAMS (+175)

The Rams very nearly knocked off the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles in the playoffs last season and are back for another shot behind Matt Stafford. L.A. brought in Davante Adams to go along side Puka Nacua, which will give the Rams a potent offense. Pass coverage must improve for this team and if it does, look out.

Week 1 NFL Lines, Free Picks and Futures

ARIZONA CARDINALS (+450)

The Cardinals made a huge jump in 2024 and are ready to make the next step and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Arizona went from four wins to eight and scored more points, while allowing less overall. Kyler Murray seems to have regressed and they will need him to be like he was a few years ago. The Cardinals used six of their seven draft picks on defense and added a couple of defensive linemen in free agency.

Season Win Totals (as of 9/2/25):
San Francisco 49ers 10.5 u120
LA Rams 9.5 o160
Arizona Cardinals 8.5 o150
Seattle Seahawks 8.5 u150

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (+475)

The Seahawks are the team I think will finish last in the West. I don’t care how good Sam Darnold played last season in Minnesota, he’s not good. Just look what he did in the games that mattered at the end of the season. Seattle has no more D.K. Metcalf or the reliable Tyler Lockett. We’ll know a lot after Week 1 when the Seahawks host the 49ers.

Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: Like I said above, I don’t trust Darnold and really only has one weapon to throw to. The defense should keep them games, but the offensive talent is just not there. I think the best they can do in their first eight games is to go 3-5. That will make it tough to get to nine wins.

Seahawks UNDER 8.5 -150

Jay’s Pick to Win Division: I like the Rams this year to win the division and get at least to the NFC Championship game. They had the fourth-youngest roster last season and that talent can only get better. Stafford returning to L.A. was a must and the offense will score some points. As long as the defense just improves a little, the Rams will win the division.

Rams +175
