NFC North Preview, Betting Odds and Free Picks [2020]

The NFC North is one of the toughest divisions in football, but this year it appears to be a two-team race between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Green Bay ran away with the division at 13-3 in 2019, but this season’s schedule doesn’t do them any favors.

The Packers will start the season with five 2019 playoff teams in their first eight games – and that doesn’t include the game versus Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The back-end of the schedule is much more manageable, setting up for a potential late-season push towards the playoffs – or even the division.

The Vikings are co-favorites to win the NFC North at +155 at Bovada and will host the Packers in Week 1, a game that could go a long way in determining who wins the division. After hosting the Tennessee Titans on Sep. 27, the Vikings will not play another 2019 playoff team at home.

You then have a fall off in the division with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions battling for third place. The Bears brought in Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles to compete for the starting job with Mitch Trubisky. That’s not going to be enough for this team to overtake the division.

The Lions will probably pull up the rear, but could surprise teams if Matthew Stafford stays healthy. He was having a terrific season before going down with a back injury in 2019. The Lions have a tough home schedule that could doom their chances for a third place finish.

Odds to Win NFC North:
Green Bay Packers +155
Minnesota Vikings +155
Chicago Bears +450
Detroit Lions +600

Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: The Vikings could very well go 7-1 at home this season, meaning they only need three road wins to go over their season total of 9. Take it!

Jay’s Pick to Win Division: I’m also taking Minnesota to win the division based on schedule and I just think they have a better overall team than the Packers. Aaron Rodgers seems to have one foot out the door already in Green Bay. Vikings +155
