NFC East Preview, Betting Odds and Free Picks [2020]

The NFC East struggled in 2019 with only one team finishing above .500. That team was the 9-7 Philadelphia Eagles, who are looking for their third division crown in four years. It could be difficult to repeat with a daunting schedule and an improved Dallas Cowboys team on their heels.

The East will also feature three new head coaches including Mike McCarthy replacing Jason Garrett in Dallas. The Cowboys are slight -110 favorites to take the division as quarterback Dak Prescott looks to get this team back to the playoffs. A Week 16 home game versus the Eagles could determine the division winner.

The Eagles drafted a speedy wide receiver to help Carson Wentz, but they also took QB Jalen Hurts out of Oklahoma. It will be interesting to see what develops there. Philly’s schedule is brutal with road games at the Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. Add in home games against the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks. Wow!

A new era is beginning in New York with Joe Judge as head coach and no more Eli Manning. It might be a rough start in 2020 for the Giants, who’s first five game are against the Steelers on Monday night in Week 1, followed by a road game at the Chicago Bears, a home game vs. the defending NFC champ 49ers, a cross-country trip to face the Los Angeles Rams, then at Dallas.

Ron Rivera takes over the Washington Redskins and will immediately see an improvement on the defensive side with DE Chase Young out of Ohio State. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins is still a work in progress and it could spell another ugly season in the Nation’s Capital.

Odds to Win NFC East:
Dallas Cowboys -110
Philadelphia Eagles +130
New York Giants +1100
Washington Redskins +1400

Season Win Totals:
Dallas Cowboys 9.5 o170
Philadelphia Eagles 9.5 u120
New York Giants 6.5 u165
Washington Redskins 5.5 u130

Jay’s Season Win Total Best Bet: I don’t see how the Eagles can get to 10 wins this season. Even if they win all four games versus the Giants and Redskins, winning six more games with that schedule is asking a lot. Take the Under 9.5.

Jay’s Pick to Win Division: Since I believe the Eagles could struggle, that basically gives the division to the Cowboys. McCarthy is an immediate upgrade and could get this Dallas team deeper into the playoffs. Cowboys -110.
