The Anaheim Ducks are beginning to find their form after a very slow start to the season, with Corey Perry and captain Ryan Getzlaf leading the way. The two talented forwards, who have combined for eight points over the last two games, look to help the Ducks extend their winning streak to five games when they host the Arizona Coyotes on Monday in the lone NHL game. The Ducks started the season out 1-9 before their current 4-game streak. The Ducks have allowed just six goals during their streak, with Anton Khudobin posting a 1-0 shutout at San Jose on Saturday. Perry and Getzlaf are the only players to accumulate more than four points for the Ducks, with Ryan Kesler and Jakob Silfverberg still looking for their first goal. Anaheim is tops in the NHL, killing 91.7% of opponents power plays.
The Coyotes will be playing their first of two in the Los Angeles area the next couple of nights looking to get back on track. They have lost three of their last four and have the worst power play in the league (11.3%). The Coyotes, who beat Anaheim 4-0 on October 14th, will try to break through against the Ducks’ revived defense after falling 4-1 to the New York Rangers on Saturday despite registering a season-high 40 shots on goal. Anders Lindback, who has allowed only 5 goals in four games, is expected to start tonight in the first of back-to-back. Top goalie Mike Smith was pulled on Saturday after surrendering 3 goals on 17 shots and has just a .900 save percentage this season. First-round pick Max Domi is tied for the team lead with 5 goals, but has only registered one point in his last four games.
Anaheim is one of the favorites to come out of the West and now that they’re playing well, its time to jump on them. The moneyline is a little high for me, so I’ll take a shot at the puckline.
