Kansas City (11-3) at Seattle (8-6)

Opening Odds: Pickem/53.5
Former AFC West rivals will battle under the lights Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs pay a visit to the Seattle Seahawks with major playoff seeding implications on the line. The Chiefs are trying to rebound from a devastating loss at home last Thursday to the Los Angeles Chargers, but the Ravens win in L.A. last night paves the way for Kansas City to win the division with a victory at CenturyLink Field. The Chiefs led by 14 points three different times in that game, only to lose at the end on a two-point conversion by Los Angeles. The Seahawks are also coming off a loss – 26-23 in San Francisco – but can actually clinch a postseason berth before they take the field on Sunday night. Still, Seattle will be looking to get back on the right track and make sure they at least have the top wild card spot in the NFC. The Seahawks hurt themselves last week with 14 penalties for 148 yards. The Chiefs and Seahawks have met 51 times, with Kansas City winning the last three in the series, with the most recent meeting in 2014. The Chiefs are 7-1 ATS in the past eight meetings.
Kansas City’s offense continues to produce week-in and week-out, scoring at least 25 points in 19 consecutive games despite last week’s season-low 294 yards. Leading MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes tops the NFL in passing yards (4,543) and passing touchdowns (45) with the help of his two favorite weapons in Tyreek Hill (1,304 receiving yards, 11 touchdowns) and tight end Travis Kelce (1,220, 10). The defense received a boost last week with the return of safety Eric Berry, who recorded six tackles, but they rank 31st overall and 32nd against the pass. Kansas City will finish out the regular season at home versus Oakland next Sunday.
Seattle’s four-game winning streak came to an end in San Francisco last week and all six of their losses have come by eight points or fewer. A win last week would have clinched a postseason berth for the Seahawks, but they still have Sunday and next week versus Arizona to do so. Running back Chris Carson, who rushed for a career-high 119 yards and a touchdown last week, leads the league’s top ground game at 154.9 yards per contest. Russell Wilson threw for 237 yards and two scores last week to give him 3,025 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. Seattle’s has forced 22 turnovers on the season and is ranked eighth in points allowed (20.9).
I know the Kansas City defense is bad, but the offense should be able to outscore Seattle in this one. The Chiefs are on a 20-8-1 ATS run away from home including 5-1-1 this season.
Pick: Chiefs -1.5
