No team has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the NBA Playoffs, but the Cleveland Cavaliers took the first step on Friday night with an emphatic win in Game 4 and will now try and win a game on the road in order to get back home. They broke the Golden State Warriors’ 15-game postseason winning streak and prevented them from becoming the first 16-0 team in NBA history. LeBron James recorded another triple-double and Kyrie Irving scored 40 points as the Cavaliers broke scoring records en route to a 137-116 thumping of the Warriors. Kevin Love continued his strong play with 23 points including 6-of-8 from 3-point land as the Cavs hit 24 three-pointers in the victory. The game was filled with technical fouls in the second half including James jawing with Kevin Durant. It was James’ ninth Finals triple-double, which breaks the record previously held by Magic Johnson. No team had ever rallied from a 3-1 Finals deficit until last year’s Cavaliers team and we’re at the same point this season. As the final seconds ticked off, Cleveland fans chanted “Cavs in 7.” Cleveland will come into this game as big underdogs again, with the total set at an NBA Playoff record 230.5. Cleveland has covered seven of their past ten road games with one push.

Durant, still one win from the coveted championship he left Oklahoma City to get, scored 35 points, but got little help from Stephen Curry, who scored 14 on 4-of-13 shooting. The Warriors had swept their first three series and were 48 minutes away from a party they’ve been planning since last June, but it will have to wait as Golden State fans hold their breathe. Coach Steve Kerr said his players aren’t worried about what happened last year. “I don’t think there was any concern or thoughts about history,” Kerr said. “I think it was we played a desperate team on their home floor, a great team, with great players, and they came out and handed it to us. Simple as that.” The Warriors surrendered a Finals record 86 first half points to Cleveland on Friday and made a few runs, but never really threatened in the second half. They shot an uncharacteristic 28.2% from beyond the arc in Game 4, but Klay Thompson hit 4-of-10 to continue his resurgence from a poor postseason start. At one point, it was announced that Draymond Green had received his second technical foul, which is an automatic ejection, but after further review, the first technical called on him was actually on coach Kerr, leading to the confusion.

Cleveland certainly hasn’t given-up, and though it will be tough to win the next three games, I do believe they’ll compete and hang around on Monday. They have too much pride and they really have nothing to lose at this point. Nobody is giving them a chance to win this series. If they can pull of this win tonight, things will get very interesting.
