The Chicago Cubs, who are now back at the .500 mark, will look for a three-game sweep of their nemesis the St. Louis Cardinals on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. The Cubs came into this weekend series two games under .500 after a dreadful 0-6 road trip, but manager Joe Madden shuffled the lineup a bit and it has paid off the past two days. Slugger Kyle Schwarber began the season as the Cubs’ leadoff hitter but is batting just .166 and was dropped to the No. 9 spot in the lineup Saturday. He responded with a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning, helping Chicago to a 5-3 victory, and will continue to bat ninth Sunday, Maddon told reporters. The Cubs also started second baseman Javier Baez at shortstop in place of slumping Addison Russell, and Baez had two hits, including a home run leading off the third inning. Chicago has 33 home runs in their last 23 games including three in the first two games of this series. The Cardinals continued to struggle offensively, failing to score more than four runs in any of their last 10 games, going 3-7 over that span. St. Louis has dropped under .500, but are only 1.5 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central standings. The Cardinals will continue their seven-game road trip with four in Cincinnati starting on Monday.
Pitchers: Cardinals – Michael Wacha (2-3, 3.99 ERA) | Cubs – Kyle Hendricks (4-3, 3.75)
Michael Wacha is looking for his first win since April 19th when he beat Pittsburgh. The Cardinals are 1-5 in Wacha’s last six starts and he hasn’t made it through five innings in his last two outings. He gave up four runs (three earned) while lasting just three innings on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wacha is 4-4 with a 5.90 ERA in 12 games (10 starts) against the Cubs. Anthony Rizzo is 13-for-28 with three home runs versus Wacha
Kyle Hendricks was cruising in his last outing at San Diego on Monday, but a grand slam in the fourth inning by Hunter Renfore killed his night. Aside from that, Hendricks has been pretty good lately, posting quality starts in five of his last seven outings. He has a 1.96 ERA in his last three home starts. Hendricks is 1-2 with a 3.56 ERA in seven starts against the Cardinals.

These are two pitchers and two teams that are going in opposite directions. The Cubs seem to have their momentum back and could be in for a big winning streak. It’s a lot, but I’m laying the 160 on the home team.
Pick: Cubs -160
