There are high hopes in Tempe, Arizona this year as the Arizona State Sun Devils kick off their 2015 season in Houston, Texas to take on Texas A&M. After taking over for Taylor Kelly in week 3 last year, QB Mike Bercovici guided the Sun Devils to a 10-3 record and Sun Bowl win over Duke. He threw for 1,445 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’ll have one of the top weapons in the PAC 12 in D.J. Foster who ran for 1,122 yards and caught 62 passes last year. On defense Arizona State returns 9 starters from last year including cornerback Lloyd Carrington who was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 pick. Todd Graham is in his 4th year coaching this team and has improved every year. The Sun Devils have what it takes to go all the way this year and a win tonight would go a long way.

Coach Kevin Sumlin has a lot of experience back in College Station this year. He’ll have 16 total returning starters including wide receiver Josh Reynolds who caught 13 touchdowns last year. Sophomore Kyle Allen, who gained 25 pounds in the offseason, beat out Kyler Murray for the QB job. Reynolds won’t be the only weapon Allen will throw to. The Aggies have one of the best receiving corps in the SEC. Speed Noil and Ricky Seals-Jones combined for 95 catches and 9 touchdowns last year. Their defense was ranked 102nd last year and will be a little bit improved, but they will surrender points.
This should be an old-fashioned shoot-out in Houston tonight. Both teams can score and have leaky defenses. The Aggies will have the home-field advantage, but I think this Arizona State teams is primed for a big season and it starts tonight.
