After a three-game losing streak, the San Francisco 49ers are back to being one of the best teams in the league after winning back-to-back games. The Niners will host the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving night with first place in the NFC West on the line. San Francisco scored exactly 17 points in each of their three losses to the Browns, Vikings and Bengals before exploding the last two weeks. The 49ers are coming off a 34-3 win at Jacksonville and most recently, 27-14 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The will face a Seattle team that is coming off a frustrating 17-16 loss at the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday. Geno Smith was injured late in the third quarter on Sunday when he was knocked to the turf by Aaron Donald. Smith missed most of the fourth quarter with his throwing elbow in a heavy wrap before returning with 1:31 remaining. Despite losing communication with the sideline, Smith guided the Seahawks into field-goal range before Jason Myers missed a 55-yard attempt to end the game.
The Seahawks swept the season series in 2020 and 2021, but the Niners got both last season and a third one in the wild card round. San Francisco is 3-2-1 all-time on Thanksgiving, while Seattle is 2-2. These teams played on turkey day back in 2014, with the Seahawks winning 19-3. The Seahawks are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 November games, while San Francisco is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 against the NFC West.
It was a frustrating loss for the Seahawks in that they led by nine in the second half against an inconsistent Rams team. Drew Lock filled in for Smith last week and would start the game if he can’t go. The Seahawks also don’t know if leading rusher Kenneth Walker III will be available after suffering an oblique injury in the first half against the Rams. They’re hopeful safety Jamal Adams will return after missing Sunday’s game with a knee issue. Wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett also appeared on Tuesday’s injury report.

Brock Purdy, who threw five interceptions during the 49ers’ losing skid, has been terrific the last two weeks (both wins). He completed 40-of-51 passes for 629 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions in those games. Purdy leads the NFL in passer rating (115.1), completion rate (70.2 percent), yards per attempt (9.7) and percentage of passes for touchdowns (6.5 percent). On the injury front, safety Talanoa Hufanga suffered a season-ending knee injury last week and they could be without both starting offensive guards, as Spencer Buford (knee) missed practice time this week and Aaron Banks (toe) was limited.

The 49ers are back to playing good football now on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Seattle has too many injury issues on the offensive side for them to keep up. Defense will be the key here and I’ll take San Fran all day long.
