The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to sit at home waiting for this back-and-forth series between the Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics to conclude. The Wizards continued the trend of home team dominance in this series when John Wall nailed a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds remaining to give the Wizards a Game 6 victory and date in Boston for Game 7. Thanks to Wall and backcourt mate Bradley Beal, Washington’s season will late at least one more game. Wall finished with 26 points, Beal scored a game-high 33, and they combined for 23 of Washington’s 26 points in the fourth quarter. Wall is averaging 26.3 points and 10.2 assists in the series, but Beal is shooting just 26.3% from beyond the arc in the series. Small forward Otto Porter Jr. averaged 15.8 points on 60% shooting in the first five games of the series but went scoreless on 0-of-5 shooting in Game 6. The Wizards look for their first conference finals appearance since 1979.

The top-seeded Celtics will try to continue the trend of the home team winning every game including all four regular season meetings. Star guard Isaiah Thomas missed a last second heave at the buzzer that would have sent them to the Eastern Conference finals. He is averaging 19.3 points on 39% shooting in the four games since exploding for 53 points in Game 2 but is looking forward to the opportunity to prove himself on the Game 7 stage. “That’s where all the great players make their name,” Thomas told reporters of Game 7. Thomas is getting plenty of help the last two games from shooting guard Avery Bradley, who followed up a playoff career-high 29 points in Game 5 with 27 in Game 6 and is 22-of-37 from the floor in that span. Center Al Horford is averaging 17 points on 68.9% shooting in the series, including a sizzling 57.1% from 3-point range. Boston is looking to return to the conference finals for the first time since 2011-12.
