Two teams that represented the West in last year’s conference finals will meet for the second time this season as the San Antonio Spurs visit the Golden State Warriors on ABC’s Saturday night Game of the Week. Golden State is coming off a 121-103 win over the lowly Dallas Mavericks, but All-Star forward Draymond Green committed his NBA-leading 14th technical foul, just hours after general manager Bob Myers addressed the team about the growing number of technical fouls the team is accumulating. The Warriors are 2-3 over their last five contests, but have a pretty good track record against the Spurs and will host the Phoenix Suns on Monday. San Antonio snapped a two-game slide while beginning a six-game road trip by dominating the Suns 129-81 on Wednesday. Golden State, which swept the Spurs in the Western Conference finals last spring, took the first meeting of 2017-18 at San Antonio 112-92 on November 2nd.

Wednesday’s impressive performance matched the most one-sided loss in history for the Suns and one of the most complete performances for San Antonio, which held Phoenix to 34% from the floor. The bad news coming out of the blowout was starting point guard Dejounte Murray going down with an ankle injury. Murray is still getting used to leading the offense for the Spurs but scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting in 13 minutes before leaving on Wednesday and scored in double figures in six of the last eight games. He is doubtful for Saturday. The Spurs continue to struggle offensively without star Kawhi Leonard, ranking 27th in scoring (101.4), but are No. 1 in points allowed at 97.7. San Antonio had six players score in double-figures on Wednesday, including three off the bench – Tony Parker (13), Patty Mills (18), and Derrick White (10).

Golden State was once again led offensively by point guard Stephen Curry on Thursday, who scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting and dished out eight assists in just 30 minutes. The Warriors fell behind by 10 points at the end of the first quarter in the win before outscoring Dallas 98-70 the rest of the way. Kevin Durant scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting and is hitting 66.7% of his shots over the last four games. Golden State received a great effort off the bench from power forward David West, who recorded 10 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds.
The Spurs just don’t have enough offense to keep up with Golden State. The defense is good, but they did allow Utah to score 120 on them last Saturday. I expect another dominating effort from the Warriors on national TV.
