Former Cy Young Award winners David Price and CC Sabathia will be on the mound for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball as the New York Yankees go for the three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox. The first two games went the same way, with Boston gaining the early lead only to see New York bomb their way back in it and are now distancing themselves from the Red Sox. The Yankees, who have won 15 of their last 18 games, are now 2.5 games clear of Tampa Bay and 9.5 in front of the now .500 Red Sox. Boston has lost four straight games and six of eight overall and are still seeking their first victory of 2019 against their rivals. On Saturday, six New York relievers pitched 5.1 scoreless innings including closer Aroldis Chapman, who picked up his 17th save of the season. Gary Sanchez clubbed his 18th home run, while Luke Voit and Kendrys Morales each collected three hits. The Yankees will begin a three-game series in Toronto on Tuesday, while the Red Sox head to Kansas City.

Price is coming off a terrific outing against Cleveland last time out, allowing just three hits in six scoreless innings, but his team went on to lose that game 7-5. He has not allowed an earned run in any of his three starts since coming off the injured list, although one of those outings lasted just 2/3 of an inning before he was removed due to illness. Price went 0-3 with a 10.34 ERA in four starts against New York during the 2018 regular season.

Sabathia is in his final season and has pitched at least five innings in all eight starts, but never going past six frames. This will be Sabathia’s first start since May 22 after hitting the injured list with left knee issues. He has allowed 11 home runs over his last six starts including two in his last outing against Baltimore. Sabathia went 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in three regular-season starts against Boston last season but lost his lone start in the AL Division Series.
Price is having a good season but the Yankees never fear him, especially last year when they tagged him with a 10.34 ERA in four outings. The Red Sox are just not very good right now and I can easily see them getting swept here.
