The Philadelphia 76ers are going to need a spirited effort like they got in Game 3 if they want to force a Game 7 with the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Game 6 is set for Thursday after the Raptors posted their largest margin of victory in postseason history in Tuesday’s 125-89 triumph and can eliminate the Sixers in Philadelphia. Toronto received a balance scoring effort and forced 19 Philly turnovers that resulted in 31 points. Joel Embiid is clearly not 100% for the Sixers as he battles with a sore left knee and an upper respiratory infection. Philadelphia’s franchise cornerstone played one of his poorest games of the season with 13 points, six rebounds and eight turnovers. Embiid was visibly ill on the bench. “Like I said before, we’re going to ride or die with big fella,” Sixers guard Jimmy Butler told reporters about Embiid. Butler once again led Philadelphia with 22 points but they’ll need more from Ben Simmons, who struggled mightily in Game 5 with seven points, seven rebounds and five turnovers. Pascal Siakam had 25 points and eight rebounds despite playing with a sore right calf while Kawhi Leonard added 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Raptors’ Game 5 win. Game 7, if necessary, would be Sunday in Toronto.

Siakam posted his fourth 20-point outing of the series after nine points on 2-of-10 shooting in Game 4 as he dealt with his calf injury. Danny Green scored 17 points with 15 of them coming on his five made 3-pointers. Point guard Kyle Lowry made more than half his shots (5-of-9) for the first time this series and scored 19 points Tuesday along with recording six rebounds and five assists.
Not only was Simmons and Embiid struggling to provide any spark on offense, shooting guard JJ Redick couldn’t pick up the slack, as he slumped to 1-of-6 shooting and three points. Butler is averaging 25.8 points over the past four games, while Embiid is at 17 points and 7.6 rebounds for the series.

The Sixers were embarrassed in their last game and will find a way to force a Game 7. Butler has been the only solid force for Philly this series and Simmons knows he needs to step up. Look for a more inspired defensive effort from the 76ers in this one also.
