Betting Odds: Lines&Odds
If you watched last week’s Workday Charity Open, you might think this week’s PGA tournament is a replay. Fear not, this week’s Memorial Tournament is indeed taking place at Muirfield Village Golf Club, but will have a stronger field and play tougher. It will also mark Tiger Woods’ restart debut. Woods sat out the first five tournaments, citing he wanted to see how everything played out in regards to Covid-19 and the new PGA protocols.
Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas are the +1000 co-favorites over at Bovada Sportsbook in a field that includes Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. Collin Morikawa won the Workday Charity Open on Sunday in a three-hole playoff over Justin Thomas and is +2300 this week.
The PGA Tour was set to allow a limited number of fans (about 9,000 per day) to return this week at the Memorial Tournament, but with the Coronavirus is spiking in nearly every state, so the Tour announced no fans will be allowed at any events the rest of the year.
Muirfield will play as a 72 at around 7,400 yards for this week’s Memorial. The 72-hole Memorial record is 268 by Tom Lehman in 1994 and the 18-hole mark is 61 by John Huston in 1996.
DeChambeau took last week off but won the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit the week before and was victorious here in 2018, beating Byeong Hun An and Kyle Stanley in a playoff. Woods (+2000), who last teed it up in a competitive event in mid-February at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles and finished dead last, has won this tournament a record five times. He was T9 last year at 9-under 269. Patrick Cantlay (+1200) won last year at 19-under 269, two ahead of Adam Scott.
