One of the two Monday Night Football games this week features the surging Green Bay Packers visiting the New York Giants on ABC and ESPN+. It looked like another lost season for Green Bay after a 23-19 loss in Pittsburgh in Week 10 to fall to 3-6. Three weeks later and the team hasn’t lost and is 6-6, while holding down the NFC’s final playoff spot via tiebreaker over the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. The Packers are coming off an impressive 27-19 home win over the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday night and will be featured in prime time once again this week.
New York’s disappointing season is all but over after head coach Brian Daboll won the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year honors. The team has regressed and now Daboll may be on the hot seat, at least entering the 2024 season. At this point, Giants’ fans may just want to see them lose out to get a better draft pick. New York would be sixth if the season ended today. However, the players aren’t giving up and have won two in a row after a 10-7 win at home versus New England.
Overall, the Packers are 34-27-2 against the Giants including playoffs all-time. The Giants earned a 27-22 win at Green Bay last season in a matchup of Daniel Jones vs. Aaron Rodgers. The Packers have won five of the last seven when visiting East Rutherford. The total has gone Over in each of the last three meetings and this week’s number is 37, with Green Bay favored by 6.5.
It didn’t look good for Love and the Packers early on in the season, but all has changed now. Love has been sensational during the three-game winning streak, passing for eight touchdowns, while averaging 285.7 yards per game through the air. Love was much better than two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes in completing 25 of 36 for 267 yards and three scores in last week’s win. Top wideout Christian Watson caught two scoring passes vs. the Chiefs but injured his hamstring and has been ruled out for Monday. No. 1 running back Aaron Jones missed practice with a knee injury and is questionable. Four of Green Bay’s losses this season came by 11 combined points.

New York went into their Bye with a two-game winning streak and arrive on Monday night with plenty of rest. Undrafted rookie QB Tommy DeVito, from New Jersey, has injected a bit of life into this offense that was doing nothing under Daniel Jones. DeVito has been named the starter for the rest of the season even though original No. 2 Tyrod Taylor is returning from injured reserve. DeVito is set to make his fourth start and passed for 191 yards and a touchdown in a 10-7 win against the Patriots on Nov. 26. The Giants will visit New Orleans next week.

I’m expecting a close contest here. Love and the Packers are playing well, but shouldn’t be this big of a road favorite. The Giants are playing tough and have won two in a row over Devito, who has energized the offense. I also like the fact that New York is coming off extra rest. I’ll take the points.
Pick: Giants +6.5
