This week’s UFC card takes place once again from the organization’s Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada and will feature another women’s event. Saturday’s Fight Night 172 event is headlined by a flyweight fight between Americans Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo. Eye is ranked as the No. 1 contender in this division behind champion Valentina Shevchenko, while Calvillo is ranked 10th in the strawweight division, whose champion is Weili Zhang. Eye, who is 15-7, could get another title shot at Shevchenko with a win. Just one year ago, Eye was knocked-out by the champ in the second round of UFC 238. Of Eye’s 15 wins, 11 have come by decision.
Five of her seven losses are by decision as well. Eye lands 3.79 significant strikes per minute and averages 0.46 takedowns per 15 minutes with 45 percent accuracy.

Calvillo (8-1-1) has struggled to make her weight in the strawweight division and has returned to the flyweight. Her lone career loss came in the strawweight to Carla Esparza at UFC 219 in December 2017 by unanimous decision. Calvillo is coming off a December majority draw vs. Marina Rodriguez.
Calvillo’s eight victories have been widespread: three by decision, three by submission and twice by KO/TKO. She averages 4.12 significant strikes per minute and 1.83 takedowns per 15 with 43 percent accuracy.
