The struggling Indiana Fever will look to get back in the playoff hunt when they visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday night at Staples Center. Indiana, currently 10th in the WNBA standings, have lost four straight games and five of six overall. They will begin a tough four game road trip that will take them into the second half of the season. With a win tonight, the Fever will earn a season series victory over Los Angeles, winning the first contest on May 24th, but dropping the most recent one on June 24th. In its most recent loss, 72-58 to the Washington Mystics on Friday, Indiana shot just 27.3% from the field. The Fever turned the ball over 18 times in that game which led to 24 Washington points. Indiana had just two players score in double-digits against the Mystics. Briann January led them with 15 points, but was 1-for-5 from 3-point land – it was the only three-pointer made by Indiana in 16 tries. The Fever allow a league-worst 48.4% opponents shooting and 36.8% from three-point territory.

The Sparks rebounded from two straight road losses and beat the Connecticut Sun 87-77 to open a four-game homestand on Thursday. Nneka Ogwumike had 29 points for the Sparks in the win over Connecticut, who had won five in a row before Los Angeles overcame a 14-point, first-half deficit. Candace Parker, who the previous night won an ESPY award for Best WNBA Player, had a bounce-back performance with 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Parker had been held to two and 10 points in her previous two games. Chelsea Gray also had a big bounce-back game with 17 points against the Sun after scoring just eight in the loss to Seattle. The Sparks have fallen to fourth in the league in scoring (84.4), but still rank No. 1 in field goal percentage at 47.8. Los Angeles will host the Chicago Sky on Thursday before entering the All-Star Break.

This line seems a little high for me. I got burned by a point in last night’s game with a big spread and I’m not laying it again. The Fever have covered the spread in their last four meetings in Los Angeles. Take the points.
Pick: Fever +15
