The Los Angeles Dodgers are showing no signs of slowing up in their quest for a third consecutive World Series appearance and will look to continue their dominance over the Atlanta Braves in the middle contest of their weekend series on Saturday night. The Dodger mashed four more home runs to give them a major-league record five consecutive games with four or more dingers. Max Muncy provided the biggest blast with a three-run shot in the seventh innings to help propel Los Angeles to an 8-3 victory. Muncy now has five homers, 12 RBI and a .324 average in 11 career games against Atlanta, who are just 6-18 against the Dodgers during the regular season since 2016. Cody Bellinger swatted his NL-leading 41st homer of the season to help give the Dodgers a 19.5 game lead over second place San Francisco. Atlanta saw their lead in the NL East cut to 4.5 over Washington and lost outfielder Ender Inciarte with a right hamstring while scoring a run in the second inning. Ronald Acuna Jr. moved within one stolen base of recording a 30-homer, 30-steal campaign by stealing his NL-leading 29th base on Friday. Atlanta signed SS Adeiny Hechavarria earlier on Friday and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in his debut.
Pitchers: Dodgers – Hyun-Jin Ryu (12-2, 1.45 ERA) | Braves – Mike Foltynewicz (4-5, 6.24)
Ryu continues to lead the National League in ERA and WHIP (0.93) while ranking second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.11) in what is sure to lead him to his first Cy Young Award. Ryu returned from the injured list Sunday with neck stiffness and gave up five hits with one walk and four strikeouts over seven shutout innings against Arizona. It was his second straight scoreless outing and fourth in a row allowing one run or less. Ryu hasn’t allowed the Braves to score over his last two outings against them covering 16 innings.

Foltynewicz is trying to regain his 2018 form after a six-week stint in the minors, but has a long way to go. He has two road victories in his last two starts against the Twins and Marlins, allowing seven runs and 13 hits over 11.1 innings, but has struck out 14. He allowed five runs on five hits (including two homers) with four walks in six innings against the Dodgers back on May 8th.
The pitching matchup isn’t even close here. Ryu not only owns the Braves, he owns the league right now. Foltynewicz might have back-to-back wins but neither outing was overly impressive. The Dodgers are on a roll and should cover the runline in this.
