In the final game of Week 6, the Indianapolis Colts will look to extend their dominance over the Tennessee Titans when the two teams meet on Monday Night Football. With Marcus Mariota’s availability in question due to a hamstring injury, the Titans aim to snap an 11-game losing skid against the Colts, as both teams will try and keep pace with Jacksonville in the AFC South. Head coach Mike Mularkey probably wasn’t too happy about the performance of Matt Cassel, as the Titans gained just 188 total yards in their lowest scoring output of the season – a 16-10 loss to Miami last week. Indianapolis’ offense has had to deal with their own backup all season, but Jacoby Brissett seems to be getting comfortable filling in for the injured Andrew Luck (shoulder), who does not have an exact timetable to return. Brissett threw for a career-high 314 yards and rushed for a touchdown last week as the Colts recorded their second victory against a winless team with a 26-23 overtime triumph over San Francisco.
Brissett has the luxury of throwing to one of the NFL’s best in T.Y. Hilton, who hauled in seven receptions for 177 yards last week. He haunted the Titans in a comeback win in Nashville last October with seven catches for 133 yards. Rookie running back Marlon Mack has taken some pressure off Brissett with a 22-yard touchdown and 35-yard run that set up Adam Vinatieri’s game-winning 51-yard field goal in overtime against the Niners. Veteran Frank Gore, who moved into seventh place in NFL history with 13,304 yards rushing, has four touchdowns in his last three games versus Tennessee. Vinatieri kicked four field goals last week to earn AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for an NFL-record 17th time in his career.

Tennessee’s once feared running game has been almost non-existent this season as DeMarco Murray has just 89 yards on the ground in his last two games, with Miami limiting the Titans to only 69 yards on 20 carries last week. Murray may have an easier time this week against a Colts defense that is allowing an NFL-high 31.8 points per game this season. Murray has scored a touchdown in each of the past three meetings with the club. Wide receiver Rishard Matthews has 20 receptions for 272 yards and two touchdowns in his past three home games, but on six for 83 yards in the Titans’ back-to-back losses the past two weeks. Rookie first-round WR Corey Davis (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday, but OT Taylor Lewan (knee) is questionable to play versus Colts.
It looks like Mariota will start in this one, but how close to 100% is he, because he needs his legs to make things happen. The Colts aren’t doing as bad as I thought with Brissett under center. I like the Colts to keep this one close.
