Online sports betting sharps should always be excited for a series between Boston and the New York Yankees, where anything can happen and it probably will by the end of a three-game set. The two American League East rivals kick the festivities off on Friday night at Fenway Park.
Hiroki Kuroda (8-7, 3.17) has been fantastic over the last month, and his performance in a 4-0 shutout of the White Sox at home may have been his best as online MLB betting players watched him strike out 11 over seven innings, walking just one and giving up three hits. The Yankees have needed Kuroda to really step up with C.C. Sabathia and Andy Pettitte on the sidelines and he has responded hugely. The 37-year-old has faced the Red Sox once, taking a loss, but Kuroda also allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings with nine strikeouts and a walk, so it wasn’t like he was awful. He still gave his team a chance to come out on top in your online sportsbook and that’s all you can ask for.
Josh Beckett (4-7, 4.06) hasn’t won in five starts after a no-decision in a 3-2 loss in Seattle, allowing a pair of runs on four hits over six innings with four strikeouts and three walks, and the Red Sox have failed to score more than three runs over those five starts, while Beckett hasn’t pitched that badly. But he has plenty of experience against the Yankees with 27 career starts and the 32-year-old is 14-7 despite a 5.36 ERA, and Beckett is also 2-4 in seven starts at Fenway Park this season. The Red Sox will need him at his best in this sports betting matchup.
The Red Sox should be slight home favorites in this East affair, although the Yankees have won six of their last 10 trips to Boston with six of the games going under the posted total. The Red Sox had dropped three in a row heading into this series and they can’t afford to fall much further behind the Yankees, who are 7.5 games ahead in first place in the East. The Red Sox have won Beckett’s last three starts at home against the Yankees and they’ll need another big effort from him, and they can get to Kuroda because there are still some skeptics that think the bottom is going to eventually fall out for the 37-year-old, which is very possible. Beckett has been pitching well as of late and he’ll get a few breaks (and some run support) on Friday as the Red Sox take an online betting (place an online betting wager here) victory.
