The struggling Washington Wizards look to get back on track when they continue a five-game trip with a visit to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder on Thursday night. Washington has dropped three of their last four including two of the first three on the trip and are now one game behind the Miami Heat in the Southeast Division. The Wizards got nothing from their starting-five in Monday’s 98-75 loss at Dallas as newly-minted All-Stars Bradley Beal and John Wall combined for just 29 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was also selected as a reserve for the upcoming All-Star Game and scored 32 points on Tuesday to lead Oklahoma City to a fifth straight win, 109-108 over Brooklyn. The Thunder now trail Minnesota by just 2.5 games in the Northwest Division after the Timberwolves loss in Portland on Wednesday. The teams split two meetings last season, with Oklahoma City earning a 126-115 win at home behind a triple-double from Westbrook (35 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists).

Beal (23.6 points) leads Washington in scoring while Wall (9.2 assists) ranks second to Westbrook (10) in the league in assists. Beal will be playing in his fifth All-Star Game, but his backcourt mate Wall has not been playing like an All-Star of late. Wall is shooting 35.6% while averaging 4.8 turnovers in his last five games. The Wizards shot just 21.9% from beyond the arc against Dallas, but are still sixth in the NBA in three-point percentage at 37.0. Washington also guards the perimeter well, holding opponents to just 33.9% shooting from long range. Small forward Otto Porter Jr., who is third on the team in scoring (13.5), is questionable for Thursday with a hip injury.

George, who made the Eastern Conference All-Star team four times while with Indiana, is averaging 20.9 points while shooting 42.2% from 3-point range in his first season with Oklahoma City. Westbrook was upset with the fact George didn’t make the All-Star squad. “Unbelievable. I think it’s just outrageous, in my opinion,” Westbrook told reporters. George has been hot, recording 28 points and nine rebounds in Tuesday’s win after going off for 36 points on 12-of-19 shooting in a win at Cleveland on Saturday. Forward Carmelo Anthony, a 10-time All-Star who also missed out this season, had a string of three straight 20+ points come to an end when he scored only 10 on Tuesday.
NBA SCORES – ODDS – PUBLIC PLAYS
The Thunder seem to have things figured out with the trio of Westbrook, George, and Anthony. The Wizards are in the middle of a long road trip and played like it in Dallas the other night. I have to take the Thunder in this one.
