ESPN’s College GameDay comes to Tucson Saturday to watch the high-powered Arizona Wildcats open PAC 12 play against the 9th ranked UCLA Bruins. Arizona set school records last week for points (77), total yards (792) and rushing yards (499) in a 77-13 victory over Northern Arizona. Quarterback Anu Solomon leads the way this year throwing for 10 touchdown passes with no interceptions while completing 68.3 percent of his throws this season. He had a dismal game against UCLA last year going 18-for-48. David Richards and Johnny Jackson have been Solomon’s favorite targets. Those receivers have 3 touchdowns each so far this season. Arizona’s rushing attack has been impressive also led by Nick Wilson. He already has 434 yards rushing in 3 games including 5 touchdowns. Arizona’s defense could use some improving. They are ranked 82nd in total yards allowed despite playing inferior opponents.

UCLA came into this season without their graduated QB Brett Hundley, but still have aspirations of making it to the Playoffs. Freshman Josh Rosen is running the offense now and he has thrown 5 touchdown passes, but also 4 interceptions. Those stats are still good enough for a 3-0 record with wins over Virginia, UNLV, and BYU. UCLA’s main threat on offense is running back Paul Perkins. He’s had a monster year so far rushing for 429 yards including 219 against BYU. He’s averaging 7.4 yards a carry to go along with his 3 touchdowns. On defense, UCLA lost starting linebacker Myles Jack, the conference’s Defensive Freshman of the Year two years ago, to a season-ending knee injury, making him the third Bruins starter to go down on the defensive side of the ball. The Bruins rank 16th nationally allowing only 14 points per game. That average will surely go up Saturday.

This should be a fun offensive game tonight as evident of the 66 total points that are posted as the over/under. Anytime you can get this Arizona team as a home underdog, I think you have to take it. Their offense is just explosive and UCLA has injury issues on the defensive side of the ball.

Pick: Arizona +3
