For the second consecutive week, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Saskatchewan Roughriders will conclude the weekly CFL schedule. Last Sunday, the Roughriders pulled off a miraculous 33-30 comeback win in Hamilton to conclude Week 3 and will now host the the Ti-Cats this Sunday night in Saskatchewan’s home opener. The Roughriders trailed 27-17 entering the fourth quarter and eventually tied the game at 30 with less than a minute to go. Then, a Bo Levi Mitchell pass bounced off a receiver’s chest and into the hands of a Saskatchewan defender, setting up the game-winning field goal.

Last week’s victory for the Roughriders was the first against Hamilton since 2022, and that was the last time Saskatchewan beat the Tiger-Cats at home. The CFL odds have made the Roughriders a 2.5-point favorite to complete the home-and-home sweep, with a total pegged at 50.5. Saskatchewan is dealing with several injuries including three offensive lineman: Philip Blake (thigh), Peter Godber (personal), and Jermarcus Hardrick (ankle).

HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

Hamilton could easily be 1-1 or 2-0, but mistakes have cost them dearly in each of their first two losses. Last week against the Roughriders, Levi Mitchell put up big numbers with 380 yards passing and three touchdowns, but his lone interception doomed the Cats. Kiondre Smith caught six passes for 119 yards and a TD, with fellow wideout Shemar Bridges not far behind with six catches for 72 yards and a score. Hamilton will play at Ottawa next week.

SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS

Saskatchewan is 2-0, but could easily be 0-2 if not for their incredible second halves. They need to get off to better starts, because luck will eventually run out. Quarterback Trevor Harris is off to a good start, leading all CFL QBs with 695 yards and five touchdowns. Harris’ favorite target has been Jerreth Sterns, who has 193 yards receiving, while Shawn Bane Jr. leads the league with three touchdowns. Saskatchewan will be on a Bye next week.

Prediction:
I’ve backed the Roughriders in each of the first two weeks and I’ll ride them again. Hamilton’s defense is allowing too many yards and points and the Roughriders are clicking offensively. I’ll lay the points.

Pick: Roughriders -2.5
