The road-weary Golden State Warriors return home on Tuesday in hopes of getting back into the win column, when they host the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder – a team that always wants to beat the Warriors. Golden State hit the second night of a back-to-back and its third road game in five days on Saturday, when it was outscored 38-25 in the fourth quarter and suffered a 115-108 loss at the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors are still trying to fend off the Houston Rockets in the West, who they lead by just two games in the race for the No. 1 seed. Golden State went 1-2 on the three-game trek including a 30-point loss at Utah last Tuesday night. The Thunder will hit the Bay Area with a four-game losing streak after a 108-104 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. Oklahoma City got the better of Golden State in the first matchup back on November 22nd, beating them 108-91 behind 76 points from the trio of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony. The Warriors were finishing a well-traveled four-game road trip at the time of that contest, however.

Oklahoma City’s recent struggles started when they lost shooting guard Andre Roberson – the team’s best perimeter defender – to a season-ending knee injury and are 1-4 without him. The Thunder allowed each of their last three opponents to make at least 13 three-pointers and are about to go up against a Golden State team that leads the NBA in 3-point percentage (39.2%). Anthony hasn’t been good shooting from long range, hitting just 4-of-22 from 3-point territory over the last four games. Westbrook scored 36 against the Lakers on 15-of-25 shooting, but is just 1-for-11 from beyond the arc in the last two. The Thunder will head down to the Staples Center to take on the Lakers on Thursday before returning home.

Golden State was just 8-of-31 from 3-point land at Denver as the tired group were thoroughly outplayed on the defensive end as well. Former Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant was the bright spot in the loss, scoring 31 points on 12-of-16 shooting to improve to 24-of-33 from the floor in two games this month. The two days off and return home should help Draymond Green break out of a 11-for-32 shooting slump he’s going through over the last three games. Shooting guard Klay Thompson drained 7-of-13 from long range in the wins over Utah and Sacramento, but was just 2-of-7 against the Nuggets. The Warriors continue their four-game homestand against Dallas on Thursday.
Oklahoma City is struggling right now, but they always get up for the Golden State games. The Big 3 dominated in the previous matchup and I think they do enough to at least keep this one within single-digits.
