The defending WNBA champion Los Angeles Sparks take their 2-0 record on the road to play the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night in Indianapolis. The high-flying Sparks have the best offense in the league thus far, leading in points (88.5), field goal percentage (50.0), and 3-point percentage (46.2). They’re coming off a pair of ten-point home victories to start the season and will hit the road for the first time. The Sparks have six players averaging over 9.0 points a game led by Nneka Ogwumike’s 23.0, which ranks her second in the league. Veteran Candace Parker is second at 18.0, while leading the squad in rebounding (8.0). Guard Sydney Wiese is the best sharp-shooter thus far, hitting eight of her first 11 three-point attempts. Los Angeles posted a 2-1 record against Indiana last season – winning both at home while falling on the road 92-82 in their only trip to Indianapolis.

The Fever are off to a 1-2 start on the season, losing both road games, and winning their home opener on Saturday 81-79 over Connecticut. Indiana trailed by eight points entering the fourth quarter against the Sun, but rallied for 29 points in the final frame. Tiffany Mitchell (14.0 points) leads a group of four who average in double-figures scoring, but it was Candice Dupree who shined against Connecticut with 19 points and six rebounds. Erlana Larkins is eighth in the league in rebounding (8.0), but her 10 offensive rebounds ties her for third. The Fever will play four of their next six at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with a trip to Seattle and Dallas inbetween.

Indiana usually plays the Sparks tough, covering five of the last six against the spread. 6.5 is a lot to lay on the road. The Fever won outright in the only matchup in Indianapolis last season. I’ll take the home dog.
Pick: Fever +6.5
