Colorado (32-34) at Philadelphia (34-30)
When: Wednesday, June 13th 2018
Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
Time: 7:05 ET | TV: AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, NBCS Philadelphia
Opening Odds: Philadelphia -124/8.5
The Colorado Rockies have lost seven straight games at Coors Field, so going out on the road seemed like the perfect remedy for their slumping squad. They started a six-game road trip with a 21-14 mark away from home, but dropped the opener of a three-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday as their ninth-inning rally fell short. John Gray pitched a solid game other than the three-run homer he allowed to Scott Kingery, which proved to be the difference in the 5-4 Phillies victory. It was Kingery’s first home run since April 10th as Philadelphia claimed an early lead and held on for their second straight win on Tuesday. Cesar Hernandez has hit safely in four straight and has scored a run in three straight and six of his last seven for the Phillies, who evened their six-game homestand at 2-2 and improved to 21-11 at Citizens Bank Park this season. Trevor Story had two singles for Colorado to record his fourth straight multi-hit performance and scored twice in the opener to give him six runs scored during his six-game hitting streak. Rockies catcher Tom Murphy made the most of his Major League debut with three hits after batting .289 with 16 homers in 49 games with Triple-A Albuquerque to open the season. Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana has gone 0-for-5 in the last two games on the heels on a seven-game hitting streak.
Pitchers: Rockies – Tyler Anderson (3-1, 4.81 ERA) | Phillies – Nick Pivetta (4-5, 3.76)
Tim Anderson has just one loss in 13 starts, but that’s due in part to the run support he receives. Anderson is coming off his fourth straight no-decision on Thursday despite pitching a season high-tying seven innings against Cincinnati. He allowed just two runs on five hits versus the Reds and kept the ball in the park after being taken deep eight times in his previous six starts. The Rockies have lost both games Anderson has started at Citizens Bank Park, and the lefty has allowed seven earned runs in 16 career innings against them.
Pivetta has lost some of that early season magic by losing his last three starts after allowing four runs on six hits in five innings in Thursday’s 4-3 setback versus the Chicago Cubs. Pivetta has allowed nine earned runs in his last three outings covering 14 innings while allowing the opposition to bat .294 against him. He was hit hard in his lone appearance against Colorado, allowing eight runs on as many hits in 2.2 innings at Coors Field last August.
This game has OVER written all over it. Both pitchers have been bad and Anderson gets a ton of run support. Pivetta is looking like a rookie pitcher of late. The over is 10-1-2 in Colorado’s last 13 games overall and last night’s affair also went over the total.
Pick: OVER 8 -120
