The Houston Rockets take a 3 games to 1 lead into Portland tonight as they try to finish off the young Blazers. Only one of these games was a blowout. Game 1 in Portland was dominated by the Rockets 108-81. Since then, each game has been won by no more than 4 points, including Sunday’s thrilling 89-88 Houston win. Brandon Roy has been terrific for the Blazers averaging 28.2 points per game, including a 42 point effort in Game 2. LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging 16.5 points, and Steve Blake has dished out 7.2 assists per game, while only committing 4 turnovers. Greg Oden has been no help on the boards this series. The Blazers have been out-rebounded in 3 of the 4 games so far. The Rockets have had a very balanced scoring attack, as 6 players are averaging over 10 points a game. Leading the way is Luis Scola with 16.8 points a game. Yao Ming is having his best post-season as a pro. He’s averaging 15.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Houston has lost 6 straight first round series. Now that they don’t have Tracy McGrady, its hard to believe they’re only 1 win away from advancing to the 2nd round. Portland is very good at home. 35-8 this year. As the series goes further along, depth and experience seem to take over. The Rockets have the edge in both.
