The Boston Red Sox bounced back from a crushing defeat on Friday night by crushing the New York Yankees on Saturday and will look to take a series win in the finale of their three-game set on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. Boston held the lead on Friday before the bullpen fell apart, leading to a 5-4 loss but had little trouble getting to Yankees ace Luis Severino on Saturday in the 10-5 triumph. The Red Sox, who are winners of nine of their last 10 games, have increased their lead over New York in the AL East to 4.5 games. Boston rookie left fielder Andrew Benintendi is swinging a hot stick, hitting a pair of three-run homers in Saturday’s win and is 12-for-23 with 10 RBIs and eight runs scored in the last six games. New York, which leads the AL wild card race, is looking to avoid a fourth straight non-winning series and is trying to stay close to the Red Sox, whom it will play eight more times through the first weekend in September. The Yankees face a tall task on Sunday as Boston ace Chris Sale takes the ball opposite rookie lefty Jordan Montgomery. Boston will once again be without 2B Dustin Pedroia, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a knee injury.
Pitchers: Red Sox – Chris Sale (14-4, 2.57 ERA) | Yankees – Jordan Montgomery (7-6, 4.05)
Sale continues to have a Cy Young-type season and it was no different in his last start. He pitched eight scoreless innings against Tampa Bay while striking out 13 en route to his 14th win. Sale has not allowed an earned run in four of his five starts since the All-Star break and has not suffered a loss since July 6th. He had little trouble against the New York lineup on July 15th, when he scattered three hits and struck out 13 over 7.2 scoreless innings.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS LOS ANGELES CHARGERS PREVIEW AND PREDICTION
Montgomery is back from the minors because CC Sabathia went on the disabled list and is trying to pick up where he left off after holding the Cleveland Indians to one run and three hits over five innings on August 5th. The rookie was hit in the head with a line drive during batting practice on Saturday but went through tests and is expected to make the start. Montgomery was not at his best at Boston on July 14th, when he allowed three runs on six hits and three walks in four innings.

This is a real mismatch tonight. I would have a hard time going against Sale no matter what lineup he faced right now. Now he’s going up against a rookie and is backed by a hot offense. I’ll lay the 1.5 runs in this one.
