It should be a special night for either the Toronto Raptors or Golden State Warriors on Thursday as Game 6 of the NBA Finals will be the last game ever at Oakland’s Oracle Arena. Golden State is moving out of the city and into a new arena across the bay in San Francisco next season. One last game at Oracle was made possible by the Warriors’ hard-fought – and emotional – win on Monday in Toronto. Despite losing Kevin Durant early after aggravating his right leg injury, the Warriors held on to beat the Raptors 106-105 Monday night as 1-point road favorites on the closing line. Durant started Game 5 after practicing Sunday for the first time since he suffered a calf injury during the second round. He quickly scored 11 points in 12 minutes, including 3-of-3 from downtown, before having to leave the game. He left Scotiabank Arena on crutches and in a walking boot, erasing any speculation that he will return now – or even next season. Kevon Looney also had to leave Monday’s game after aggravating the cartilage injury he suffered near his collarbone in Game 3 of the Finals. His status for Game 6 is questionable. Kawhi Leonard scored 10 straight points in the fourth quarter to give Toronto a 103-97 lead with just over three minutes left, but the resilient Warriors stormed back and outscored the Raptors 9-2 the rest of the way for the win. With a chance to win in the final seconds, the Warriors double-teamed Leonard and the ball ended up in the hands of Kyle Lowry for a corner three-pointer that was contested by Draymond Green and not close. The big difference in Game 5 was beyond the 3-point arc, where the Raptors were just 8-of-32, while Golden State drained 20-of-42.

If the Raptors can just shoot the ball a little better than they did Monday, the series may not have to go back to Toronto for a Game 7. Leonard finished with 26 points on 9-of-24 shooting; Pascal Siakam and Danny Green were 0-for-8 combined from long range, while Kyle Lowry was 1-for-6. The Raptors are now 3-0 – including the regular season – at Oracle Arena.
Golden State is still dangerous with all of the injuries, but when you have Steph Curry and Klay Thompson on the court, good things can – an usually – happen. The duo scored or assisted on 77 of the Warriors’ 106 points, with Thompson making two three-pointers and Curry one in that closing 9-2 run. DeMarcus Cousins has also played well in the series and scored 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting Monday. One thing to watch closely is Draymond Green and his temper. If he gets a technical in Game 6, he would be suspended for a potential Game 7.

There’s not reason to think Toronto can’t win again in Oakland because they’ve already done it three times this season. The Raptors were outscored by 36 points from beyond the arc and still almost won Game 5. They will shoot better in this game and take home the trophy.
