The worst game on the Week 10 board this week takes place on Thursday night, as the Carolina Panthers visit the Chicago Bears. These teams are a combined 3-14 on the season and are already looking ahead to next year’s Draft. Chicago is coming off a disappointing loss at New Orleans last week in a game they really should have won. The Bears were minus-5 in the turnover battle and only lost 24-17. Head coach Matt Eberflus is now 5-21 with the Bears and 1-9 in games decided by eight or fewer points.
It’s not any better for the Panthers this season who are sitting at the bottom of the NFC South standings. Carolina is coming off a 27-13 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts after earning their only victory the previous week over Houston. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young has disappointed so far, but the Panthers are just not a good team. Edge rusher Brian Burns (concussion) and wide receivers DJ Chark (elbow) and Laviska Shenault Jr. (ankle) are among seven Panthers players who missed practice Tuesday.
Chicago leads the all-time series against Carolina 7-4 including the postseason. The last meeting was in Charlotte in 2020 and the Bears won 23-16. Nick Foles and Teddy Bridgwater were under center that day and both are long gone. The underdog is 7-1-1 ATS in the last nine meetings. The Bears are a 3.5-point favorite in this one with a total of 39.
Carolina’s offensive woes continued Sunday in the loss to the Colts, which had allowed at least 37 points in three straight games. Young had three more interceptions, with two of them returned for touchdowns. It’s not all Young’s fault, as the offensive line has allowed him to be sacked 26 times already and was hit seven times Sunday. Three key defensive players in pass-rusher Brian Burns (concussion), cornerback C.J. Henderson (concussion) and safety Xavier Woods are all in doubt to play on Thursday.

Chicago hasn’t had starting QB Justin Fields since he injured his thumb on Oct. 15 against Minnesota, but undrafted free agent rookie Tyson Bagent has shown capable signs at times. Bagent threw for 220 yards and two TDs in Sunday’s loss in New Orleans but had three interceptions. Tight end Cole Kmet has 16 catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds left with a knee injury and is day-to-day. Top safety Jaquan Brisker was out in the concussion protocol but cleared it Monday and will play.

This is going to be a hard game to watch, but it’s a stand-alone game that everyone will still want to bet. I’ll lay the points with Chicago. Last week was encouraging but they need to stop turning the ball over. This Carolina team doesn’t scare me and Young has looked pretty bad. I can see Chicago winning this one 17-10.
Pick: Bears -3.5
