The fading Indiana Pacers visit the surging Houston Rockets on Monday night at Toyota Center in Houston in the last game of the month for both teams. The Pacers will be glad to put February in the rear-view mirror as they have dropped eight of their last nine contests including a lackluster effort in a 113-95 loss in Miami on Saturday. The Pacers snapped a six-game losing streak when they earned a 102-92 win over Memphis coming out of the break on Friday, but failed to keep the momentum going on Saturday when star forward Paul George was ejected in the second quarter at Miami in the first of a five-game road trip. George was one of the biggest names to pop up in trade rumors ahead of Thursday’s deadline but ultimately stayed with Indiana and is struggling to find his shooting stroke. George is 6-of-20 from the floor in two games since the break and is shooting 29.7% from the floor in the last five games, perhaps contributing to the frustration that led to his ejection for directing an expletive at an official on Saturday. Shooting guard and NBA dunk champion Glenn Robinson III is 7-of-11 from 3-point range over the last four games.

The Rockets, meanwhile, are creeping up the Western Conference standings by winning six of their last seven contests and are just four games behind San Antonio in the Southwest Division and ultimately, the two seed behind Golden State. The Rockets buried 22 3-pointers on 58 attempts while racing past the Minnesota Timberwolves 142-130 on Saturday to begin their brief two-game homestand. Two nights prior, Houston scored 129 points in a 30 point road win in New Orleans against Anthony Davis and the newly acquired DeMarcus Cousins. The Rockets have made at least 20 3-pointers in an NBA record eight games this season. Houston pulled off a deal before the deadline to bring in sixth man Lou Williams from the Los Angeles Lakers, and he is off to a hot start with his new team. The veteran is averaging 22 points off the bench in his first two games and is a combined 9-of-18 from 3-point range. Indiana earned a 120-101 home win over the Rockets on January 29th but has not won at Houston since March of 2013.

Indiana is playing like a team that has given up and George is in a real funk. I don’t see how the Pacers can’t stop the red-hot Rockets here tonight. I like Houston to win by double-digits.
Pick: Rockets -10
