A couple of hot American League East teams will begin a four-game series on Monday night, as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Centre. Toronto has won back-to-back series after Sunday’s 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates to take two-of-three over the weekend. Baltimore failed to sweep a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays and dropped the finale 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. This game starts an eight-game road trip for the Orioles, who an MLB-best 16-8 away from home.
This will be the last series between these AL East rivals until after the All-Star break. They played two games in Baltimore in mid-May, with a third postponed by rain. The teams split a pair of 3-2 decisions. The Orioles are on a 7-1 run when playing in Toronto and 11-4 overall over the last 15 meetings. Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman was 4-for-8 in the series with three homers and four RBIs. AL MVP candidate Gunnar Henderson was 0-for-7 with two strikeouts. Bo Bichette was 5-for-7 with a double for the Jays, while Daulton Varsho had Toronto’s lone homer of the series.

Blue Jays – Kevin Gausman (4-3, 4.14)
Grayson Rodriguez will be looking to rebound from his second loss of the season last week against Boston. The right-hander allowed four runs over six innings and had a season-high 10 strikeouts. Rodriguez didn’t face Toronto in the first series and is 0-1 with a 4.32 ERA in 16.2 innings in three career starts against them.
Kevin Gausman is coming off back-to-back strong outings, allowing just two runs over 12 innings against the White Sox and Tigers. Gausman didn’t see the Orioles earlier this season and is 1-3 with a 4.61 ERA in five career starts against them.
I like the Orioles in this one. Gausman has been great over the last two outings, but they were on the road against bad hitting teams. At home, Gausman has a 6.20 ERA in five starts with a high 1.69 WHIP. Baltimore is red-hot right now, winning eight of their last 10 and are the best road team in Baseball.
