Monday’s NBA Playoffs Preview and Free Picks [4/29/24]

The Minnesota Timberwolves became the first team to advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs by impressively sweeping the Phoenix Suns. Two more series could end tonight, as Oklahoma City and Denver look to eliminate their opponents, while the Celtics will look to go back home with a commanding lead against the under-maned Heat. Check out Bovada Sportsbook for the best odds and props for tonight’s action.

BOSTON AT MIAMI | GAME 4

Boston took back control of the series with an impressive defensive outing on Saturday and will look to continue that in tonight’s Game 3. I thought Miami would keep it close on Saturday, but the Celtics were having none of it. Boston is completely healthy right now and the Heat have no offense to compete. The Celtics are on a 9-3 ATS run in first round playoff games and should easily win this one by double-digits.

Prediction: Celtics -10.5

OKLAHOMA CITY AT NEW ORLEANS | GAME 4

Speaking of teams with no offense. The New Orleans Pelicans have been thoroughly dominated by the Thunder in the last two games after almost pulling off a miracle in Game 1. OKC has turned tight games into blowouts with big runs. New Orleans has also been really bad at home over the last month, winning just once since March 30. The Pelicans have failed to score 100 points in this series yet and that won’t be enough to take down the red-hot Thunder.

Prediction: Thunder -5

LA LAKERS AT DENVER | GAME 5

The Lakers finally ended a long losing streak (11) to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday and still have hopes of becoming the first team ever to win a series down 3-0. L.A. was actually in the first three games of the series, only to falter down the stretch. James and Davis dominated the paint in the Game 4 win and must keep doing that. Denver is still going to win this series, but the Lakers will keep this one close.

Prediction: Lakers +7
