The Indiana Pacers are currently in the middle of a nice stretch of home games and continue that on Monday night when they take on the limping Dallas Mavericks. The Pacers are right in the middle of a tight Eastern Conference race for one of the top four spots and have done it all without All-Star Victor Oladipo. Well, the shooting guard is back and he and the Pacers haven’t looked the same, but it is just two games in. Oladipo is 4-for-22 from the field in his first two games, as Indiana got by the Chicago Bulls in overtime, then looked bad in a 92-85 home loss to the lowly New York Knicks. “It’s that time of the year. We, obviously, have a healthy roster now so it’s going to take some time to acclimate, bringing Vic back in, different types of lineups,” Pacers center Myles Turner told reporters. “We have time to figure it out, but we can’t come with too many excuses. We have to go out there and get it done.” The Mavericks would love to have a healthy lineup moving forward like the Pacers, but stars Luka Doncic (ankle) and Kristaps Porzingis (rest) sat out the 123-100 victory over Atlanta on Sunday. Dallas is also in a dogfight for a top four spot out West, trailing fourth place Utah by just two games entering Sunday’s action. The teams split the two meetings in 2018-19 and the home team has won five of the last six.

The Mavericks might have to play this game without their best three-point shooter in Seth Curry, who left Saturday’s game with tightness in his right knee and is day-to-day. Curry is hitting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc and was 5-for-7 before leaving the Atlanta game. Porzingis is expected to return on Monday but Doncic will miss another game, giving guard Jalen Brunson another start. Brunson poured in a season-high 27 points in Saturday’s win and helped hold Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young to 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting. Dallas will be back on home Wednesday to host the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Pacers are in a stretch from January 29th to February 21st in which they play only one road game and that will be Wednesday in Toronto. Indiana is 18-6 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse this season while going 13-10-1 ATS. Oladipo has come off the bench in his first two games and has averaged about 21 minutes of action thus far. All-Star power forward Domantas Sabonis (25 points) and Turner (12 points) were the only players to score in double figures for the Pacers on Saturday as the team shot a miserable 42.1 percent from the field.

I fully expect the Pacers to star clicking soon. This is too good of a team to look bad in three straight games. They recently came off a long road trip, which could be an excuse as to why they’re looking sloppy.
