Cain (8-8, 3.10 ERA) will try to even the series tonight. Since getting rocked by Washington on July 9th for 7 runs, Cain has only allowed 2 earned runs in his last 2 starts covering 15 innings and has a 2.63 ERA at home this year. His 2.85 career ERA in 6 starts versus the Marlins is a good sign. He’ll need to be at his best, because Josh Johnson (10-3, 1.61 ERA) is having a Cy Young type season. He’s been even better in his last 3 starts posting a 0.44 ERA. Johnson has never beaten the Giants in 3 career starts, but has a nice 2.70 ERA. This is a pitcher’s park with two terrific pitchers going tonight. Pablo Sandoval is doubtful to play tonight because of personal reason back in Venezuela and that will hurt the Giants offense if they want to break through against Johnson. Take the Marlins.
