The red-hot British Columbia Lions take to the road this weekend when they visit the Calgary Stampeders in a Week 7 West Division matchup. B.C. has been on a roll since dropping their Week 1 contest at Toronto. Since then, the Lions have reeled off five-straight wins and four covers and are now tied for the West lead with Saskatchewan at 5-1. Meanwhile, the Stamps dropped to 0-3 on the road last week when they lost to Winnipeg 41-37. Calgary has won and covered both of their home games to date and are 4.5-point underdogs in this contest against B.C.

This will be the second of three meetings this season between these rivals, with the Lions taking the first one back in Vancouver 26-17 on June 15. B.C. is now 7-2 straight-up and against the spread in the last nine meeting with Calgary and have won five of the last six at McMahon Stadium. The Lions won three of the four meetings in 2023 including the one meeting in Calgary 25-15.

BRITISH COLUMBIA LIONS

The Lions never trailed in last week’s win over Saskatchewan and turned it on late with 13 unanswered points to make the final 35-20. Vernon Adams, Jr. led the way again with another solid performance, throwing for 451 yards and a score, but was also picked off twice. Adams threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 2 win over the Stampeders. B.C. is now second in the league in scoring (30.3) behind Toronto after averaging 39.5 the last two weeks. The Lions will have a Bye next week before back-to-back road games to begin the month of August.

CALGARY STAMPEDERS

The defense let down Calgary once again last week in the loss to the Blue Bombers. The Stamps have now surrendered 71 points in the last two weeks and are dead last in total defense at 412.4 yards allowed per contest. Calgary is fifth in the league in scoring offense, but have picked it up the last couple of week’s including last week’s season-high in points. Quarterback Jake Meier passed for 316 yards last week and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. Dedrick Mills recorded 131 yards on the ground and averages 5.7 yards a carry on the season.

Prediction:
As good as the Stamps have been in their two home games, I can’t see them slowing down this B.C. offense. The Lions are the hottest team in the league and have won five of six in Calgary. I think B.C. gets an easy win here.

Pick: Lions -4.5
