The road has been tough-going for the entire Big 12 Conference this season, as only two teams are over .500 away from home overall. The Texas Christian Horned Frogs earned a rare road victory on Saturday, upsetting 16th-ranked Iowa State 92-83 for their first win against a ranked foe away from home in 21 years. TCU will be back home on Monday night – where they are 11-1 – to take on the 14th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. TCU freshman Kendric Davis scored a career-high 22 points, while junior Desmond Bane added 17 points, six rebounds and three steals to lead the Frogs to their 17th win of the year Saturday. In the first meeting between the teams this season, Dedric Lawson recorded 31 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals in leading the Jayhawks to a 77-68 win on January 9th. Kansas has been battling key injuries for most of the season and that forced coach Bill Self to start four freshmen for the second time in his 16-year tenure in Saturday’s 84-72 victory over Oklahoma State. Kansas, who has won 14 straight regular season Big 12 titles, are 1.5 games behind rival Kansas State for the conference lead and will try and snap a four-game road losing streak Monday against TCU. With Udoka Azubuike (13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds), Lagerald Vick (14.1 points, 45.5 3-point percentage), Marcus Garrett (7.2 points, 1.8 steals) and Silvio De Sousa out on Saturday, Ochai Agbaji led the way with 23 points and five 3-pointers. Devon Dotson contributed 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, and KU used a 16-2 second-half run that broke open a close game.

Lawson, a junior, averages 19.6 points and 10.6 rebounds on the season and worked well with the freshmen Saturday to record 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists to keep the Jayhawks within striking distance of first place. David McCormack, who started in place of Vick, grabbed five rebounds and a block shot in 14 minutes, but failed to score a point. It was junior Mitch Lightfoot (1.9 points) who provided a spark off the bench with six points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes. The Jayhawks will be back home on Saturday to take on last-place West Vriginia.

Bane is the leading scorer on TCU (15.0 points) while also contributing 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists with Noi right behind him at 14.8 points and a team-leading 48 3-pointers. Robinson is next at 12.9 points and 7.4 assists, but it was the Horned Frogs’ hot shooting that helped take down Iowa State Saturday. Kouat Noi (seven rebounds, three 3-pointers) and guard Alex Robinson (five assists, two 3-pointers) each scored 17 points and Kevin Samuel added six points, seven rebounds and five blocks as the Horned Frogs shot 53.2 percent from the field.

Kansas is 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings with TCU.

Kansas is still pretty talented and well-coached even without their best players on the court, but I can’t ignore their struggles on the road. This is a very solid TCU squad who will be ready for the upset.
