The Utah Jazz continue their three-game road trip with a visit to the Nation’s Capital on Sunday afternoon to take on the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center. Utah won their final game before the All-Star Break and then came out of it with a 109-95 victory at Milwaukee on Friday to begin the trip. Gordon Hayward scored 29 points as Utah improved to 7-3 on the road against Eastern Conference opponents. Hayward has scored 27 or more points in six of his last nine games and is shooting 52.5% in nine February games. He and teammates George Hill, Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors combined to shoot 65.9% in Friday’s win while five reserves produced more than half of the team’s 23 assists. Guard Rodney Hood, who missed the previous eight games with a knee injury, shot 1-for-9 against Milwaukee on Friday. The Jazz own the top defense in the league in the points allowed category (95.7), but are just 28th in points scored (100.4). Utah will finish the road trip in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night.

The break seemed to cool off the Wizards who lost for just the third time in 18 games Friday night 120-112 in Philadelphia. This game against Utah will start a brief two-game homestand that also includes the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, after which the Wizards play a home-and-home set against the Toronto Raptors. Philadelphia’s 120 points matches the highest total in regulation for a Washington opponent since the middle of December. Star point guard John Wall had another solid game with 29 points and 14 assists. Bradley Beal had a monster game with 40 points on 15-of-25 shooting despite missing six of his eight three-point attempts. Newcomer Bojan Bogdanovic, acquired at the trade deadline from the Brooklyn Nets, was held to two points in 18 minutes in his debut with Washington. Forward Otto Porter Jr. entered Saturday leading the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage (46.1%), while Jazz F Joe Ingles was third at 44.1%.
