The Utah Jazz are one of just four teams in the NBA with a losing road record despite a winning overall record and it got as bad as it could last night in Toronto. The Jazz suffered their worst defeat of the season north of the border 130-100 after trailing by 40 points at the break. Now, they must face one of the hottest home teams in the league when they visit the Philadelphia 76ers Monday in the second of a back-to-back. Utah shot just 42.2 percent from the field in dropping to 4-7 away from home as they wrap-up a brutal five-game trip on Monday. The loss to Toronto didn’t help Philly much, as the 76ers now trail the Raptors by 1.5 games in the Atlantic Division. Philadelphia has won all nine games at Wells Fargo Center this season, but are just 4-5 ATS there after several close wins in which they were big favorites. One of those came on Saturday, as the team edged out Indiana 119-116 behind a huge effort from Joel Embiid. The big center had 32 points and 11 rebounds Saturday and since going scoreless in a loss at Toronto last week, is averaging 30.7 points and 14.7 rebounds. Embiid also went 15-of-15 from the free throw line against the Pacers to improve to 81.5 percent for the season. The Jazz won the first meeting this season back in Salt Lake City 106-104, but the Sixers have covered each of the last five meetings.

Point guard Mike Conley led the Jazz with 20 points in 25 minutes on 7-of-13 shooting in Sunday’s loss after connecting on 9-of-40 over his previous four games combined. Utah limited their starters to 30 minutes or less in the blowout loss, as eight different bench players scored led by Jeff Green’s 19 points in 15 minutes of action. Donovan Mitchell, who averages a team-leading 24.8 points a game, was held to 16 against Toronto, but did score 24 against Philly last month. Utah will come home on Wednesday to open a three-game homestand against the L.A. Lakers.

All five starters scored at least 12 points for the Sixers on Saturday and point guard Ben Simmons had a great all-around game with 15 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and four steals. Simmons has at least two steals in six straight games for a Philadelphia team that has won seven of eight overall. Tobias Harris was second behind Embiid with 22 points and is shooting 52.3 percent in Philadelphia’s 14 wins. Third-leading scorer Josh Richardson (16.1) has missed the last two games and is doubtful for Monday. Philly will be at Washington Thursday before returning home for three in a row.

I’m going to take the hot team here and go against the one that just played last night – and looked awful. Embiid is starting to heat up and the Sixers should get revenge from an earlier loss to Utah.
