The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, both 1-2, have a big chance to stay in the NFC East race with a win today. The Eagles got back on the winning track last week with a 24-17 win over the Jets. Despite the preseason hype coming into this season about the offense, the Eagles rank 31st in total yards after three games. Sam Bradford has been unimpressive and the running game has been abandoned. DeMarco Murray is actually questionable this Sunday with a hamstring injury, so we could see more of Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles. The Eagles have made a league-low two plays of 25 or more yards this year. Defensively, the Eagles have had trouble stopping the pass, but are ranked 7th in rushing defense. That will be key today as the Redskins are 4th in the league with 143 yards rushing a game. Philadelphia is averaging 24 points a game on the road this year and usually score well in Washington.

The Redskins are coming off a Thursday night loss to the Giants in which they were really never in the game despite the 32-21 final score. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was intercepted twice in the game and the Redskins were held to a season low 88 yards rushing. Cousins has thrown 4 interceptions this year and has a QB rating of 81.3. Cousins is unlikely to get much help in the form of former Eagle DeSean Jackson, who has missed two contests with a hamstring injury and is day-to-day. Alfred Morris’ time as the Redskins’ top running back may be over. The veteran gained 121 yards in the season opener against Miami, but had just 6 carries for 19 yards against the Giants as Matt Jones rushed 11 times for 38 yards. Surprisingly, the Washington defense has been pretty good. They are ranked 2nd in total yards allowed and are allowing only 19.7 points a game.

According to reports, this game will go on despite the threat of a hurricane. I really still believe the Eagles are a good team despite their early season struggles. Bradford will get it together, but I would like to see them run the ball more to open things up. Chip Kelly will adjust. The Redskins are a bad team and Cousins is not the answer at quarterback. I think the Eagles roll today.

Pick: Eagles -3
